Haleigh + Billy. Engagement

We have known Haleigh for a few years professionally because she the Event Coordinator for The Hilton, in downtown Wilmington.  When she asked us last year to shoot her wedding, we were honored and excited !  Our warm up shoot was the engagement shoot she wanted us to do, mainly for her fiancee Billy’s sake, not hers :)   Despite the cold day, we had the best time.  Haleigh , being her crafty self, brought the props and the bloody marys ! What more could we want. When a bride (or bride to be ) involves herself in designing the shoot , it makes it so much more personal.  Haleigh and Billy brought bikes, a Charlie Brown Christmas tree with lights, blankets, paper date cut outs, rope..)  We then were able to take these items and incorporate them into the shoot.  The result, fun, personalized, beautiful photos.

The shoot was taken at the Trails End dock area.  H & B live close by the spot and frequently spend time there.  Haleigh also brought the dried Christmas tree sprig that Billy had tied her engagement ring to, the Christmas before.  The ring had been his grandmothers.  What made it even more special was his grandmother still had the box that came with the ring. Haleigh brought that as well. To see something from so long ago have new life , is pretty neat.

We are super excited to be a part of their wedding in April ! See you guys soon!

Alyson & Michael- Sunrise

Not only was this amazing photo shoot done at sunrise, it was POURING rain.  Alyson & Michael were troopers !  We would shoot, get rained on, wait, shoot more.  Eventually the clouds parted and provided us with beautiful, romantic light.  We started around Johnnie Mercers Pier at 5:45 a.m.  and worked our way up the beach, hammock and blankets in tow.  Once we had about an hour or so shooting at the beach , we went to a friends house to use their sailboat Fast Forward.  There was a quick wardrobe and presto, Alyson & Michael emerged looking an ad for Travel Magazine. There was laughter, hugging and kissing !  The thoughts of having photos taken at that time of morning might be a bit daunting but pictures are worth a thousand words.

Thank you A & M for being so relaxed amid crazy conditions.  We are super excited to see you on Bald Head in the fall !

Valerie & Eric’s Engagement

Valerie and Eric were SO much fun to work with.  The day was beautiful and of course the couple was too.  We met a local favorite, The Wayfarer.  The arches and the vines provided such a romantic setting.  We spent time there and then wandered around downtown Wilmington, shooting in spots that we liked.

Because Valerie & Eric’s wedding theme is “How Sweet It Is”, we popped into The Market Street Candy Store and spent time and money.  We sampled and had fun.  Eric even proposed again with a big giant lollipop ring !

As the sun was setting there was a quick wardrobe change that involved Valerie’s killer heels. Time well spent on a beautiful afternoon!  Thanks guys and we are excited about your wedding !

Our Year in Pictures Continued

Wow- we had a great year and wanted to share “Our Year In Pictures” , part 2.  Thank you wonderful brides, grooms, mothers, fathers, relatives , friends and vendors that expressed their sincere “thank yous” and appreciation.  We truly love what we do.  We are wedding story tellers.  We get emotionally involved with what we are seeing.  The dress, the lighting, the emotions, the beautiful food & flowers , the dancing, and of course the love & laughter.  How could you NOT love our job?!

We have an exciting 2011  ! We are thankful to those whom have chosen us already, vendors whom have passed along our kudos,  and those whom have helped us by spreading the word.  Best wishes to everyone in 2011.

Jessica & Justin

When we first met Jessica and Justin (when they were interviewing us as potential wedding photographers)  , we knew that they were going to be a fun couple to work with.  When they said they wanted us to be their photographers for their Spring 2011 wedding, we were thrilled !  Two weekends ago, we met at Wrightsville Beach to do their engagement shoot and just as expected, we had a great time !

Jessica is so warm and easy going.  I don’t think she stopped smiling the WHOLE time, except when I asked her to or when we saw a fisherman and his pile of blowfish (poor little guys).  ANYWAY, if you read Jessica’s facebook wall, all you will see is how much everyone loves her and how they think she is one of the best people they know.  Not to leave you out Justin but Jessica’s smile says it all ! You are a lucky guy :)

It was cold at the beach so we brought hot chocolate, they brought a blanket.  We mixed in some other  props just to add some fun and break the ice so to speak.  A word to all brides, we encourage the use of props !  They add to the photographs, they help with nerves and it’s just FUN !

Props in hand we braved the chill and had a wonderful shoot.  We spent time on the beach, took a hot chocolate break, broke out the props, then went on the Pier and dodged bird poo and blowfish. We finished at Tower 7 munching some of their famous chips & salsa.

We are so excited to be working with Jessica and Justin.  They are so in love and comfortable with each other and now us, the wedding is going to be FABULOUS !  Looking forward to the bridal portrait Jessica. :)

I love the way they are looking at Jessica’s vintage heirloom ring.

So warm and inviting

Thankful for some warmth
