Kristen + Alex . Ocean Isle, NC 10.9.11

Kristen and Alex’s romantic Ocean Isle, NC wedding was one of those weddings you knew was rooted in family and friends.  They were SO excited to be marrying each other. Their family and friends came from near and far.  Both are avid beach goers. They were introduced by their best friends 10 years ago.   Their ceremony on the sand was sweet and full of love and laughter.  After the kiss, we had some fun on the beach.  Kristen’s gown looked so beautiful with the wind and the steps of the boardwalk.

Once beach photos were done, we headed up to The Isles Restaurant for food and dancing !  Hugs and kisses dominated this mostly New York crowd.  I love how the Northern folks are so affectionate.

They danced, ate , drank and danced again, until late into the night.  So much fun !!

Here are the other wedding professionals that made their day special:

Jessica & Justin’s Wedding- Wilmington , NC

Jessica and Justin were a great couple to work with over the months leading up to their wedding.  There was never a shortage of smiles. They were so excited to be marrying each other.  Their happiness and love were and still are infectious.

We started the day at The Hilton Riverside.  There was GREAT concern for the weather.  Who knew that all around us there were tornadoes and severe storms.  Once we arrived at Airlie Gardens the clouds definitely parted for Jess & Justin.   Airlie was SO BEAUTIFUL ! Everything was in full bloom.  Jess & Justin decided to do two neat things.  One, a butterfly release in honor of their grandparents and also, they passed a single strand of ribbon around to all the guests, and as Jess & Justin were saying their vows, the guests moved their wedding rings along the ribbon.  Basically, all the guests were “involved” in the ceremony as everyone touched the set of rings. Cool.

After the ceremony we had fun taking some pics around the gardens & then we headed off the The Balcony on Dock. Because of the storms, Bekah and her crew at The Balcony decorated both upstairs & downstairs.  A Beautiful Event and Justin (with his string slighting skills) had the place looking magical ! Guest had a blast with our CAPture It! screen. Dressing up and taking photos always raises the fun meter !

It was love, laughter, fun, booty shakin’ filled evening. We loved every minute guys !  Thank you :)

Here is the story behind the letter in the frame:  “My Grandmother Margery Ann (my mothers mom) wrote a letter (the day after she married my grandfather Robert Corbey), to her mother Ruth Powderly Helm (the original owner of our engagement ring) thanking her for the wedding and talking about the first day of their honeymoon!  The letter is dated April 16, 1952.  I loved that we were married the day after my grandparents wedding anniversary… I know it was the 2 of them who had the sun shine for us :)   P.S. My great grandmother Ruth was a nurse for Presidents Harding & Wilson.”

Bye !  Happy Life :)

Carly & Andrew’s Wedding

Carly & Andrew have been so much fun to work with.  Carly’s smile is catching.  They are SO sweet together. I don’t think Carly stopped smiling ALL DAY.  First Presbyterian Church, downtown Wilmington NC was BEAUTIFUL. I love the windows and the “aura” of such a large church.  The wedding was held on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Not too hot, not too chilly. After the ceremony we took the Wilmington Trolley to The Hilton.  Haleigh and her staff at The Hilton, along with A Beautiful Event has the reception looking spectacular !  The set up was stunning.  There was a whole lotta’ shakin’ goin’ on once the party got started.   Skate Rink Juke Box rocked the house ! Thanks guys.  Hugs and best wishes :)

I love how Carly’s mom is looking at her

Mary & Jason

I had the pleasure of photographing a friends wedding WITH a friend.  Jay (aka: Jason) and Mary’s wedding was fun and different.  Jay is a personal friend and I shot the wedding with my photographer friend Sara, fun times !  Both those things made the day more special.  Jay and Mary decided to see each other before the wedding and get some cool shots around downtown before heading to The Bellamy Mansion for the ceremony and reception.

We started out in the Forrest Hills area among the beautiful oak trees.  Check out Mary’s hair piece ! It was hand made for her by Head Full of Feathers- Chamonix, France.  As soon as she stepped out of the car and I saw this amazing creation, I knew we were going to have fun.  Her dress was AMAZING and Mary looked stunning.

We left Forrest Hills and headed downtown, stopping at at local art gallery that had amazing windows.  Next, off to the heart of down town, stopping at local fun spots, guided by Mary with her love of architecture (hint: she has an old brick building as her Facebook Profile picture).

Jay’s best friend owns The Little Dipper, so we stopped in there for a “nature break” and I loved the light at the door so we caught some cool pics while there.  Too bad we didn’t get to eat !  Love their food !!

Off to The Bellamy we went.  The ceremony was lovely and touching.  Mary & Jason are so in love and secure in their relationship.  The flowers (Mary , the bride, assembled with the help of some friends) and food were amazing.  Angie’s Catering did a fabulous job.  Mary also made the dessert Buckeyes.  The Key Lime mini-pies were Jason’s favorites, Mary procured those from a friend of hers “in the know”.

Then we partied until the late night hours thanks to DJ Matt Perkins.

We had a great time guys !  Thank you and best wishes !  See you soon :)
